Pipe Repair
Pipe repair covers the everyday failures in a home's water lines: pinhole leaks in copper, joints that have let go, fittings that weep, and pipes that bang or hum when water runs. Most of these are small, contained fixes when handled early, and we quote them upfront before opening anything. We also give straight answers on materials, because the right choice depends on what is already in your walls.

How you know it’s time
A damp spot, bubble, or stain on a ceiling or wall
A pinhole sprays a fine mist inside the cavity long before it drips. Discoloration or blistering paint is usually the first visible clue.
Banging when a faucet or the washing machine shuts off
Water hammer is a pressure shockwave in the pipes. It is fixable, and left alone it gradually stresses every joint in the system.
Green or white crust on copper pipes and fittings
Corrosion deposits at a joint mean water is escaping slowly. These spots become pinholes on their own schedule.
The water meter moves with every fixture off
A spinning meter dial with the house shut down means water is leaving the system somewhere, often at a hidden joint.
When to make the call
Schedule pipe repair as soon as you spot a stain, a crusty fitting, or a new noise in the walls, while the fix is still small. A pinhole that costs little to repair today can soak insulation and drywall over weeks. If you are unsure whether you are seeing condensation or a leak, common in Florida humidity, we would rather take a look and tell you it is nothing.

Broward & Miami-Dade
South Florida pipe repair is mostly copper from the 1960s–80s pinholing in Plantation, Kendall and Hollywood Hills, galvanized rusting shut in the 1950s cities, and polybutylene fittings letting go in the 1978–95 homes of Coral Springs, Cooper City and Miami Lakes. One leak gets a repair; a pattern of leaks gets an honest conversation about repiping.
Jacksonville & the First Coast
Jacksonville's water comes from the Floridan aquifer, and its mineral load works on pipes from the inside while Florida humidity works on them from the outside. Copper pinholes cluster in certain vintages, especially where lines run in or under slabs. Newer areas like Nocatee and Oakleaf are mostly CPVC and PEX, where the typical failure is a fitting rather than the pipe. Near the beaches, salt air chews on exposed lines and hose bibs faster than inland.

Why do copper pipes get pinhole leaks in Florida?
Pinhole leaks come from pitting corrosion: the water chemistry attacks tiny spots inside the copper until one eats through the wall. Florida's aquifer water carries a heavy mineral load, and velocity, pipe age, and stray electrical grounding can speed the pitting. One pinhole is a repair; a second and third nearby means the whole run has thinned.
Is PEX better than copper or CPVC for Florida homes?
For most repairs and replacements in Florida homes, PEX is our usual recommendation: it does not pit like copper, does not grow brittle like aging CPVC, and its flexibility means fewer joints, where most leaks start. Copper is still excellent pipe, and if your copper system is healthy we patch in kind rather than push a changeover.
What causes banging pipes when I turn off the water?
That bang is water hammer: moving water slams to a stop when a valve closes quickly, and the shockwave whacks the pipe against the framing. Fast-closing valves on washing machines and single-lever faucets are the usual triggers. The fix is straightforward, usually hammer arrestors at the offending fixtures plus securing loose runs.
Can I fix a leaking pipe myself with tape or epoxy?
Repair tape and epoxy putty are fine as a stopgap for a day or two, but they are not a repair, especially on a pressurized supply line. Pressure works at the patch edges, and when it lets go it does so without warning, usually inside a wall. Wrap it and close the shut-off valve to buy time, then have the section properly repaired.
How much does it cost to repair a leaking pipe?
The price depends on where the pipe is and how hard it is to reach, more than on the repair itself: an exposed line under a sink is quick work, while a leak above a ceiling adds access and patching time. You always get a written quote before we cut into anything, and if the problem is bigger than a spot repair, you decide the next step with no pressure.
